Seven remarkable student leaders will be recognized at Oakland University’s 32nd annual Keeper of the Dream Scholarship Awards Celebration, an event that honors the legacy of civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
The celebration will take place from 11:30 a.m.- 1:30 p.m. on Monday, January 15, 2024, in the Oakland Center Founders Ballrooms. Detroit native Loni Love, an award-winning TV/radio host, actress and author, will be the keynote speaker.
The Keeper of the Dream Scholarship Award is given annually to students who exemplify the spirit of Dr. King’s work, demonstrating strong citizenship, scholarship and leadership in breaking down cultural stereotypes and promoting interracial understanding.

Established in 1993, the Keeper of the Dream Scholarship Awards Celebration is held annually on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. To date, over 100 students have been awarded Keeper of the Dream scholarships totaling more than $500,000.
This year’s Keeper of the Dream Awards Celebration is sponsored by Oakland University Credit Union, Corewell Health, Magna, PNC Bank, Comerica, First State Bank, Whirlpool, Marshall Family Foundation, Lynne & Lia McIntosh Scholarship, Oakland University Alumni Association, Lynne A.
